Born in Richmond, Virginia in 1991 to Jim and Donna Newlin, Diandra Newlin grew up in Richmond. Her father is the senior product manager for ChemTreat/Danaher Inc., and her mother is a registered nurse and SAG actress. Her only current pet is a Yorkie named Max who is ten years old. Diandra spent five summers in New York City from 1997 - 2001 modeling with Wilhelmina and Product Models, doing commercials, and making her debut into movies. Diandra has been in hundreds of International magazines and ads; her most famous gig was being on the Easy Bake Oven box. After 2001, she began spending her summers in Hollywood. What began as a hobby took a turn toward serious acting when she booked the recurring role as Angel Girl on NBC's soap opera Passions. Diandra moved to Los Angeles in 2004. She currently is represented by LA Models/LA Talent for modeling and by Coast to Coast for commercials and theatrical.[2] Her current acting managers are Susan and Cami Curtis.
She lives in Marina Del Rey, California and graduated with honors, one year early from Laurel Springs School June 2008. In October 0f 2007 she also passed her CHSPE test which earned her High School Proficiency Diploma at age 16. Diandra started incorporating college courses into her busy acting/music career at Santa Monica College where she made the Dean's List her first semester. She graduated from Santa Monica College with Honors obtaining her Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts in 2010. She was immediately accepted into Loyola Marymount University in January 2009 and is working toward a degree in Natural Science (Pre-Med) while continuing her music and acting career. Diandra plans to use both her acting and medical background in her future career. Diandra does research and volunteers at both Marina del Rey Hospital and UCLA/Ronald Reagan in Westwood, California.
In November of 2008 Diandra was diagnosed with drug-induced lupus and chronic anemia from taking Solodyn, a type of minocycline for her acne. After treatment with prednisone and Plaquenil for nine months her symptoms regressed. Diandra continues to work with lupus victims and has since did a video for hospitals and doctor's offices and has created a website where patients can ask her questions specifically about her fight with drug-induced lupus.
Diandra has studied music with both Bob Marks in New York City and Seth Riggs in Hollywood. She spent some time at the Hollywood Pop Academy and has sung at the Young Artist Awards, Universal CityWalk and on Good Morning America and in hundreds of other venues including China. Her singing credits include the role of Baby June in the musical Gypsy with Lorna Luft at the University of Richmond. She co-writes her own songs, two of which have been included on a compilation CD by Infant Records. Eleven songs compose her second self-titled CD. Diandra wrote and worked with Roy 'Royalty' Hamilton formally of Capitol Records, and now with Warner/Asylum Music, for 3 years. From June 2007 until March 2008 she worked with Drew Lane, from Silent Chaos Productions/Drew Right Music. Her music video "Boyfriend," which she cowrote, casted and produced, is the first of that new music release. In June 2009 Diandra went to Nashville to record on Music Row with producer Kim Copeland. In 2010 she released a new single "CUSS" written by Barry and Kim Currin from Screaming Tomato Music Publishing. Presently she is recording the remaining songs from her Nashville visit and is in talks with several music insiders who have the capacity to further her career with a record distribution deal.
Diandra has guest starred on Disney Channel's The Suite Life of Zack and Cody as well as appearing in three soap operas; Guiding Light, General Hospital and on NBC Passions, where she was the recurring Angel Girl. She also was a supporting actress in the motion picture Loving Jezebel by Universal Pictures at the age of eight. She has appeared on talk shows including Good Morning America and ABC Primetime Live spelling out her journey in show business. Diandra has also had roles in the films G.I. Jane, Hush, Pootie Tang, Hearts in Alantis and Mickey.[2] Diandra has acted in many national commercials and in music videos for Faith Hill’s "Cry" and the Jonas Brothers’ "Year 3000". Diandra has played leads in many Short Films depicting drama and comedy. Some of these films have gone to Film Festivals and have won awards. Her debut into serious comedy was with her appearance on The Gong Show with Dave Attell. Diandra was nominated for Best Outstanding Youth Performance as a Young Leading Actress for her starring role in the drama Bench'at the 2008 Young Artist Awards where she also debuted her "Boyfriend" music video and again nominated for the same category (comedy) in 2009 for her starring role in the film Christmas at the Asylum. Currently the movie Dreamkiller in which she co-stars, was released February 19, 2010.[3] It premiered at Archlight Theater in Hollywood and had an extended limited release in the United States. Diandra won a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film: Supporting Young Actress for her portrayal of Natalia Nemet. Diandra's single "Boyfriend" is in the movie. Dreamkiller.[2]
